It was the first time I brought my mac into the office because I’d wanted to use photoshop to design the pamphlet which the doctor had instructed me to complete. I was, of course, elated to have this opportunity to do something just a little more exciting than to check and reply emails and to face MSOffice every day. Plus, it was time to put my design talent into good use again.
It made me think of how I could use this little talent to earn some extra income, from my company itself! and decided that it wasn’t so bad to moonlight as a part-time designer — and there will be no conflicts because the company will be the one paying me the money. Sounds like a great idea.

So I’m finally done with little Brayden’s 1st year birthday invite and have just submitted the final design (the first) for printing. It had been a rather rushing time as I had to juggle between working in the cafe and having a lack of time or inspiration for the design, but thankfully I got it all done and the cards will hopefully be out tomorrow or the day after!
Have a good one, little boy!

Today, I couldn’t help but swoon over this charming little boy who knows his stuff – posing like that when he’s barely even one?? I’m totally won over. Really. I am making a semi-sorta invitation card for this little boy’s 1st birthday in September and I am excited about how the layouts will turn out. I have thus far already completed one layout but I am just going to work on more before presenting it to my client – who verymuch is my friend.

Missed those stayovers and potluck parties during those uni-days? Those times when Tim Tams, Red Rock Deli, Smiths Chips are a must-buy when on sale in Safeway/Woolworths? And those yummy meatpies for school when there just isnt any time to cook? How about mid-afternoon beer, “barbies”, vegemite breakfasts, Krispy Kreme, and juicy Starbursts??
Those were the days!
Let’s relive the wonderful times Down Under and share our experiences (albeit in hot sunny Sg) – bring a friend along too!
For those who lived in Aussie, studied in Aussie, LOVES Aussie, mad about Aussie food and/or culture, or those who just simply want to join in the fun! If you fit the criteria, join the group here.

It has been a busy week getting cards done for the August babies and I forgot to mention, that on 5 August before the divejunkie flew down to Brisbane with her fiance to start a new life there (for the next 3 years or so), I had to start my first card-design project as soon as possible. It was then that I realised how bad I was at crafts when my attempts to craft motifs were very futile. In the end, I settled with a very simple design due to the lack of time, and got it delivered on time. Thank God.
Today, it was much worse when I woke up at 9am from a call and realised that tonight I will be meeting a secondary school friend whose birthday happens to be tomorrow, and I will not have any other time to pass her a birthday gift. So I hurriedly used Shabbyprincess‘ design kit and made something not very authentic but was presentable enough. Worst thing was, I’d lost my old photos when I’d accidentally wiped off my hard disk and thankfully I still had a couple left to make do with the design:

So I got it printed at Lucky Plaza (a total RIPOFF!!!) and had it mounted:

This is how it looks in actual presentation – it props up like a photo frame which can be placed on her table so it’s yay!

7 August was Stef’s birthday – Stef is a very special friend of mine who had been there during my darkest times, despite us being in different countries. I can’t imagine how I would have survived without her overseas calls to listen to me ramble about life (or how bad it was). So thank you babe, I can’t thank you enough.

8 August – we presented Joanna’s birthday present during cellgroup session. Glor had the picture printed 50cm x 40cm to be pasted onto a 70cm x 50cm frame – the borders were perfect for every cell member to leave their signatures! Unfortunately I had something on and couldnt attend cellgroup or to be present at the celebration but I heard everyone loved the collage, esp the birthday girl! So it made the hardwork even more worth it and meaningful.

It’s craft festival in Melbourne this season! From 4 August to 7 September, Craft Victoria is going to host a whole load of public events, workshops, residencies, exhibitions and forums at where else but the art-iest place in Melbourne City – Flinders Lane!
Go to their website to check out the whole yummilicious-ful of events!!
” Learn how to weave tapestry, make jewellery or mould glass. Browse the benches at open studios and Meet Your Maker at artist talks on inspiration and philosophy.
Pick up a quirky ceramic artefact, a decoupage boot, or a macramé model at the Members’ Exhibition, and you can be sure that it’s one of a kind.
See the makers themselves in flamboyant progress – sketching, cutting, stitching, knitting, scraping, moulding, sculpting, drawing, painting, glazing, and sticking.
Got a project of your own, that you’re just dying to get off the ground? Go Speed Dating and court a crafty VIP with your big ideas.”
Oh oh so excitinggg. I love Melbourne – thing is, I’m no longer there so….bahhumbug.

This is a birthday gift for Joanna. The cellgroup has already something for her but I’d thought to put up this very gorgeous picture of our ballroom event and present to her as a little giftcard. The background layouts have been provided by Shabbyprincess.
